By-election Set for Rupandehi-3 After MP Deepak Bohara’s Passing

Kathmandu: The Election Commission (EC) has announced that a by-election for Rupandehi Constituency No. 3 will be held on Kartik 17 (November 3). The seat became vacant following the demise of Deepak Bohara, a lawmaker from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), who was elected in the 2022 general election.
26 Political Parties Registered for Contest
According to the EC, 26 political parties have been registered to participate in the by-election, as per Article 271 of the Constitution and Section 48 of the Political Parties Act, 2073.
Nomination and Key Election Dates
The schedule for the nomination and election process is as follows:
-Candidate registration: Asoj 11
-Withdrawal deadline and final list with election symbols: Asoj 15
-Polling date: Kartik 17 (November 3)
Reason for By-election
The by-election was necessitated after MP Deepak Bohara passed away on April 1, 2025, following long-term health complications related to COVID-19. As per constitutional provisions, a by-election must be conducted if a seat in the House of Representatives falls vacant with more than six months remaining in its term.
